TRiO Programs at Mississippi State University provide individualized support, academic resources, and success-centered opportunities for eligible students. These programs and initiatives are designed to help students navigate college, persist academically, and ultimately graduate. TRiO serves first-generation, low-income, and/or students with documented disabilities. Through coaching, peer-mentoring, academic support, financial literacy, career preparation, and connection to campus resources, TRiO helps build confidence, community, and a clear path toward degree completion.

Students interested in applying to TRiO are encouraged to complete the TRIO application. After applying, the program staff will review your eligibility and follow up with next steps. TRiO Applications are open May 31st – September 7th.

Who's Eligible?

Students may be eligible for TRiO programs if they are accepted or enrolled at Mississippi State University and meet the federal eligibility requirements. TRiO is designed to serve students who meet one or more of the following criteria: 

  • First-generation college student
  • Income eligible based on federal guidelines 
  • Documented disability

TRiO Programs that exist at Mississippi State University:

TRiO STEM 

TRiO Stem is designed to support eligible students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health-related, and other STEM-focused fields. The program provides targeted academic, career, and professional development support to help students persist in STEM pathways and prepare for future careers.

TRiO Student Support Services

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that supports eligible students throughout their undergraduate experience. The program provides personalized guidance and resources to help students succeed academically, develop professionally, and stay connected to the MSU community.
